    Leigh,
I'm in need of help for my son, 22 years old, fighting a severe addiction to K2, K4, & K3. No one knows enough about it and I'm having difficulty getting him help. He's been through in patient and out patient detox/rehab programs, but he's their "first K2 baby" and he's getting no where. He swares that this addiction is like nothing he's ever experienced...previous marijuana smoker and was able to stop on his own. Severe CRAVING is the word he uses when referring to this CRAP. But every doctor, therapist, whoever, says it's not addictive! It's him! This stuff won't do anything to him! They're wrong, I'm watching it! He does consume large amounts, 2-3 packs a day, and when he tries to stop he literally gets sick, similar to heroin. Can this be? He/I feel like we're losing our mind trying to convince doctors that this is real and the addiction is overwhelming. Is there anything, medicine, that can help wean him from this drug? No one in Missouri has a clue. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!

Ann, i'm terribly sorry to hear of your troubles. i have no clinical expertise, but we have very little clinical characterization of these compounds and it sounds like the local clinicians have their own pre-existing biases. i would support DM's suggestions, and unfortunately i don't have any specific clinical resources that might be of support. best of luck to you and your son!

Call your local NA? Try other clinicians that specialize in addictive disorders? It is a crying shame if your MDs are refusing to believe that K2 might be addictive...

Please tell me how your son is doing now and what help you have found. My 20 year old son is altenating between K2 and dextro. Supposedly neither is addictive but he withdrawals everytime he tries to stop. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful. He is also diagnosed bi-polar and adult ADHD. He is currently taking Lithium and Vyance.
