Yea, this time of year might be all smiles and sunshine for the high school and college grads out there, but for academics it can be a real ball buster. It's the end of the semester - grading finals, reading papers, dealing with whining students who want to argue about a grade (but didn't study nan time all semester), fussy admins who want paperwork, not to mention personal crap like what thinking about summer money -to teach or not to teach- or the concern that these damn permits better come through in time for me to do my field research this summer. So the last thing you are in the mood for is some whining, complaining, annoying mess.

You come to realize that folks must think you're new to this.  I ain't new to this!

I'm true to this! So, I'll start things off this week with my own rant.

Academic Gangsta is the alter-ego of usually fun, bright, and cheery DNLee – Science Blogger extraordinaire.  When not riled up, blog posts about science, science outreach and diversity in sciences are wrought with light humor and thought-provoking challenges.  But sometimes changing the face of science and academia can be exhausting, which means she deals with a lot of crass, insensitive, and plain ignant (yes, IGNANT) folks who are insulting, sexist, classist, and sometimes down-right mean.  In those times, Academic Gangsta takes the wheel.

Fuck you Friday is back and with a vengence.  The Hermitage is busy with real life stuff, but will be back to flipping folks off in a month or so. In the meantime, Academic Gangsta will be stepping in and smacking bastards, crazy deadlines, and all of annoying people,places, things, and events into their rightful places -- out my motherfucking way!

So, let's get it started, Fuck off to all of the bullshit you've had to deal with this week or month.
