Dear caffeine,
Why are you not working your splendiferous magic this week? I need your help so that I don't fall asleep on my desk and wake to find a river of drool, my face lined with the imprint from my keyboard and students taking photos of me with their phones.
Damn you. Damn you and your inability to keep me awake during endless committee meetings and student presentations.
That is all.
Disappointingly yours,
PiT.

Tried 5-hour energy? Or caffeinated Doritos?
5-hour energy put me in the local urgent care center.
Cocaine?
I hear meth can do wonders...
I took advantage of a sabbatical to go back to grad school (at 50!) and take some classes. Being on the other side of the podium totally re-energized me. The glow is fading, but how sweet it was.
Or maybe just a break will do wonders? Two or three weeks with no computer or phone access has been known to rehabilitate even the most dire cases.
I've discovered that I have more energy when I'm off caffeine. Caffeine gives me a great buzz but a seriously protracted crash, and it keeps me from sleeping well. Plus it's hard to maintain the same dosage over time.
Isn't that a clear sign of the end of times?
